So, what is a “Seed Bomb” anyway?
What are in seed bombs?
A seed bomb is a small ball formed from seeds, soil, clay, and water. It’s about the size of a meatball. You scatter it, give it a bit of water, and it sprouts into a patch of flowers!
What are seed bombs used for?
We give seed bombs to homeowners in the Palisades and Altadena so they can transform their cleared lots into vibrant wildflower meadows, creating a visual symbol of hope and a literal site of renewal.

What are the benefits?
A healthy ecosystem is naturally hardened against wildfire. Native plants are a beautiful and eco-friendly way to help fireproof a community.
The Seed Bomb Project uses only indigenous fire-adapted seeds: California poppies, evening primrose, California buckwheat, yarrow, and sunflowers. These drought-tolerant species thrive in a post-fire environment, healing the soil by extracting toxins and fixing nutrients. Native flowers will bring back the birds and bees to our neighborhoods, and give the returning residents something lovely to enjoy as well.
